Why don't any of you Bloomberg Stans want to talk about the racist audio released this week?

Daddy Billionaires response: that was 5 years ago when I was just a 72 year old boy. I'm a grown up now.

1.) outside of twitter and people whose use job it is to call things racist, no one cares about something from 5 years ago he has already apologized for, and the Bernie Bros probably should have sat on the hit piece until a few days before Super Tuesday when it would still be fresh and have an impact
2.) the story broke during the NH primary so it was eaten by The Klob
3.) a majority of Americans agree with what he said and still support stop and frisk (Before you go there, I do not), particularly the voters needed to love the needle against Trump so think about what’s important here...

It's a good plan and I hope it will inspire the other candidates to put forward similar plans (if they haven't already) , but I still don't want Mike Bloomberg as president.

Like I said: the former Republican vs. the former Democrat is going to be awesome to watch, especially the hypocritical hit jobs from both sides.

At this point, here’s my problem:

In the past few weeks, the Attorney General has announced that he will personally decide who can and cannot be investigated for campaign finance violations. He has forced an adjustment to the sentencing recommendation of one of the president’s associates, has created a process through which externally acquired campaign oppo can be filtered through him, and sat by while the president attacked a judge by name.

The Republican Senate, which is likely to remain the Republican Senate, has openly acknowledged that even when they recognize that he is engaging in impeachable actions, they won’t impeach him. Meanwhile, in states like Kansas and Florida, the GOP is openly waging a war in favor of reduced voter rights.

These are not only huge stories. They are also an important public framing for this election, which is getting missed in all the noise. What, at a national level, is 90% of our coverage and conversation dedicated to? Horse race politics, and any dumb shit drama we can find (see: Iowa). It’s 2016 all over again, with Trump openly engaging in dangerous or unpopular behaviors, and all of the news and public discussion centering around who is winning Florida this week.

I think every Democratic faction is quietly thinking to themselves that if they can win the nomination, they will almost certainly win the race. And then they can have the agenda they’ve always dreamed of finally come to fruition, and off into the sunset we all go. But beneath the clamor of intra-tribe bitterness they are creating, actions are being taken that may in fact make it impossible to put a democrat in the White House....because the only tool that could help us face down these actions is mass public awareness.

We all have our preferences. I wish Warren could win (she can’t), and Bernie is my second. I dislike Pete enough that his nomination would have me seriously reconsidering my future affiliation. But the idea that any of these people would be more of a danger than four more years in which Donald Trump can bend every apparatus of government to his xenophobic, climate-denier base’s will and pick Supreme Court judges is absurd.

I think we were all doing a lot better when we remembered that we were running against Trump. I just want the primary over. That’s who gets my vote.

I'd say Trump isn't a billionaire but being in the white house probably has him as close as he's ever been what with all the grifting

I know you're referencing the Dem party fear of Bernie, and I 100% agree. I also think there are a lot of people, even some in this thread, who think Trump is a giant threat to America itself, AND there's very little chance to stop him.

I've always been in the camp that believes Hillary was one of two terrible candidates in 2016, and the one resembling some sort of change won. Biden was the one candidate I never actually thought could win 2020 because it's a long race and he is a backward looking candidate. I could very well be wrong, but Trump wasn't actually that strong a candidate in 2016 and there isn't reason to believe he's stronger this time. Everyone points to economic/employment metrics - they were good in 2016 too, but the incumbent party lost. Trump is very beatable if the left stays on message and doesn't eat itself once a nominee is chosen.

This is true. But I think calling him a “carnival barking clown” while suggesting no one likes him is not the way. That’s a specific thing that most (not old) people will not understand. Bernie will have to learn a couple new tricks too, but “this man is a pathological liar” is a much better start.

I tend towards the more pessimistic view that the MAGA crowd views Trump as the alpha they wish they were, so having someone stand up to the bully makes sense if you want to shatter that illusion (the tweet quoted above was a provoked response to a Trump tweet)

I don’t think anyone is gonna win the “I’m the alpha” argument, I don’t think it will sway many people. But I do understand what you’re saying and don’t disagree.

I’m just saying I don’t think anyone can beat trump at his own game. Bloomberg shouldn’t try. The Bernie “he’s a liar” (or he’s crazy) argument, repeated a lot, is better.

For the record I think both Bernie & Bloomberg could beat Trump. Both could lose too. Neither is gonna win cuz they “out-twittered” him.
