I don't have any problem with actual trans people lol. That's dumb shit you people keep presuming because you can't conceive of anyone ever disagreeing with you without being a bigot. My problem isn't trans people, it's dumbass activists and your shit tier ideology.

Burt just needs something to shake his fist at, as life hasn’t worked out for him like he hoped I guess. It’s why he won’t stop fighting woke, even though Trump has killed it now. He desperately needs another bogeyman to materialize, but he’s not imaginative enough to think of one on his own, so continue to scour X he will until he finds his next mythical crusade to shadow box.

Dime's takes are awful but at least he's brave enough to assert something or make arguments. What do you do? You snipe from the cheap seats with weak ass quips? Pathetic!

It's like you modeled your whole personality after Jon Stewart, but you're not even a z-grade Trevor Noah.

Yes, that’s right. You didn’t care about the topic, other than to reject his use of the word oppression. That part addressed, you moved on. In no other way did the topic interest you. You just popped in to say lol to his post.
BurtReynolds wrote:My problem isn't trans people, it's dumbass activists and your shit tier ideology.
Yes. Exactly. You have a far stronger emotional response to the activism than to any other aspect of this topic. I absolutely agree with that. That is the part you care about.

Burt, if I am misunderstanding you, then who cares (ha ha)? I’m just a doof on the Internet. But I’m not saying that durd is right and you are wrong because you’re such a meanie head. I’m not talking about trans people. I’m just explaining to him that his arguments are emotive ones, and you don’t care.

I thought the topic was oppression? Sorry if I don't write out a lengthy response to a news link and a list of identity traits made by someone I know isn't going to respond anyway, but the question I asked leaves the door open for him to elaborate if he wants.

You’ve got half the sentence. He hates bullying when he feels like he or a group that he identifies with is the target of it. Otherwise he doesn’t really care. He makes a point of expressing scorn.

That is an example, yes. And we all do that shit. You’ve done a ton of it. I have too.

But you also, concurrent to that, have many posts that express empathy for groups of people you do not necessarily support or agree with….including trans people.

You disagree with durd almost completely on this issue, but your concerns about trans people are often based in worry and shared humanity. Concern that young people might make a choice they regret later in life. Fear on behalf of women, when you feel that trans people are being elevated in a way that might be harmful to them.

The key phrase there is “on behalf of.“ The occasional snark or scorn that you deliver always arrives in the context of routinely expressed, empathetic advocacy on behalf of someone who is nothing to do with you at all. Who might even be on the opposite side of the issue as you.

Again, I’m not saying that Burt said a mean thing, and only Burt says mean things, so just ignore him. I am saying durd is wasting his time when he engages him on this topic, because durd gets emotional and passionate about it, and Burt just doesn’t care.

You and I regularly heap scorn on groups we disagree with. But it’s not the only way we speak about them. You might be in favor of deportations, and you might come in here to share articles about immigrants who committed crimes, but if this summer there are news stories about elevationally horrific conditions in deportation camps…there’s a good chance you’ll be the one sharing some of those stories. Expressing horror for the way that it is being done, because you think and talk about human beings as if they are human beings and not NPCs.

All of Burt’s posts look like
BurtReynolds wrote:
JuanHamm wrote:my nephew is trans and this election I'd like to do what little I can to protect his rights.
Yeah that's how they keep you in line.
I’m not talking about the ideology behind his response to Juan (or durd). I’m not talking about the worldview or the political viewpoint he expressed. I’m not saying anything at all about ideology.

I’m saying that BurtReynolds would only ever respond to Juan’s statement in exactly the way that he actually did. Exactly that level of dismissiveness.

This back-and-forth is getting repetitive, but I will continue it if you’d like. I will keep reasserting what I believe, because I do genuinely believe it.

But I also promise to keep my eye out. There’s a good chance that the news will be bringing us quite a lot of civil liberties discussions in the coming year or years. Lots of chances for me to be wrong….opportunities for Burt to maintain his passionate “personal freedoms“ attitude, by rejecting situations where someone he approves of is using a position of power to hurt or suppress someone he doesn’t approve of…even when he thinks it is funny or serves them right.
