Promising Young Woman is on HBO.
I remember it being a critical favorite, even winning the original screenplay Oscar, so I dvr’d it. I just watched it, I don’t know how to describe it. Definitely a revenge story and a few funny scenes for the underlying plot narrative. It was mostly good. Then I thought it went off the rails for the big climatic finish but….
I haven’t been jaw dropped like that at the end of a movie in a while

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

First of all: what? Second: this could mean a million things. Third: please cite your sources for this, I've never heard anything like this

It's in the wiki page
Spoiler: show
Originally, Fennell planned to end the film at the time Cassie's body was burned, but the production's financiers balked at having a negative ending. She also considered an ending where Cassie appears at the wedding and kills the men responsible but deemed it unrealistic. She decided to have the ending where Cassie has a backup revenge plan as she felt Cassie would be thorough in her planning and she would be aware she could die. Additionally, Fennell stated that having Al apprehended at his wedding would reflect Cassie's sense of humor.[18]

The ending was where it all fell apart for me, it's almost cartoonish. I had no idea it was changed, and it makes complete sense

I’m clearly not a big fan, but think this is still disappointing. No narrative, just random stunts one after another. The best are a little funny.
