I dunno about that...with all these guys due to return (or already returned) from injury, and the influx of talent of recent months from NXT/Japan, I wouldn't be surprised if he's lost at least some of his spot to other guys

Probably. He did very, very well in two big-time matches two nights in a row--I was totally over on both him and Rollins. He'll probably get dropped to the midcard for a little while, and hopefully he can work with some of the talented guys down there and build a profile as a solid performer while the boos die down.
