Because they know the outcome of the rest of electoral college votes. If the race is close, say a few thousand votes like they had in 2022, then the losing party could starting calling everyone on their voters rolls to remind them how important it is to keep Stalin or Hitler out of office and say something like "If you had difficultly voting, your vote can still count and help us save the country" and find enough votes to win from folks who would otherwise not have bothered but now that they know the outcome can claim they were unjustly impacted or something like "oh I mailed it, I pinky swear, but some freak set the ballot box on fire and it was lost". I'm not saying this will happen. But there is no reason to even open that door and allow a whisper of doubt to creep in.

i guess it kinda depends how you measure it. how much of the population could vote 200 years ago?

there was footage yesterday of postal drop boxes on fire and votes come out in cinders.

Enough of that happens you can track the constituencys and youll find out pretty quickly who's doing it, or for which party.
