Gibson pitched really well until that 7th inning. I blame this one on the offense. Need to score more than 3 runs against that Yankees lineup. Just didn't come through with guys on base.

I knew nothing of Snuffy Stirnweiss other than his awesome name before this tourney started. He had some great years in the 40s.

I was looking at Stirnweiss' baseball reference page because I too know virtually nothing about him, and was surprised to see he led the AL in slugging percentage one year with a .476.

Yeah, you can't really hold Gibson responsible for giving up three runs to a lineup with Dimaggio, Ruth, Mantle, and Gehrig in the middle of it.

So I was pasting the images of each teams' final stats in the OP for posterity and Jorge really wasn't kidding about putting insults directed at chud (and Argo) in his file names. I'm going back and looking at the old ones now. It's pretty amusing.
