I'm shocked at how good this album is.

Not sure if this is the most deadpan sarcastic stump post ever, or if it’s for real

I think he said a succinct, sincere-sounding, praiseworthy thing the other day, too. So it might be real.

I had never even seen a shooting star before. 25 years of rotations, passes through comets' paths, and travel, and to my memory I had never witnessed burning debris scratch across the night sky. Eddie Vedder and the Earthlings were hunched over their instruments. Eddie slowly beat on a grand piano, singing, eyes closed, into his microphone like he was trying to kiss around a big nose. Andrew Watt tapped patiently on a double bass, waiting for his cue. White pearls of arena light swam over their faces. A lazy disco light spilled artificial constellations inside the aluminum cove of the makeshift stage. The metal skeleton of the stage ate one end of Florence's Piazza Santa Croce, on the steps of the Santa Croce Cathedral. Michelangelo's bones and cobblestone laid beneath. I stared entranced, soaking in Eddie Vedder's new material, chiseling each sound into the best functioning parts of my brain which would be the only sound system for the material for months.

Something clicked for me with Good and Evil this morning. I enjoyed it a lot more on this morning's listen. I'm sure feeling pissed and needing to vent had something to do with it.

Try was stuck in my brain when I woke up too. I guess I need to give that a listen too.

Had to go 5 here. Yesterday Power of Right jumped up a bit. Picture went up as did The Haves after hearing the whole Springsteen interview. Realistically it is 4.5, but rounded up.

Yeah, G&E is my favorite of the rockers. I’m liking the other ones more and more with each listen, but there’s something about this one that feels less composed, more like he channeled an actual feeling rather than tried to put lyrics to a rock riff.

What a couple of years from Eddie and this band. Between this and Gigaton they've tossed 10 or 12 new 4+ star songs into my life when I wasn't sure I should really expect any more ever.

I just imagine driving through the Yield booklet while listening to this song. That's what it feels and sounds like to me.

It wont stay there but i review in the heat of emotions.

Its more a 4 star. But this album has more life and Joy in it than the last few PJ records and I love gigaton. Its just where im at in life right now. I am free to edit star rankings at any given moment.

After a weekend, the takeaways for me are The Dark, Try and Mrs. Mills. The Dark is as big a Springsteen lift as Long Way is Petty, but it works way better, for some reason. The three singles may be my least favorite tracks on the record, which may have ended up helping in a way. I'm also looking forward to at some point hearing live versions; I feel like none of the punkier tracks here are helped by how they sound, and they might take off in a different way with a band actually playing them.
