it's an interesting theory in that it sets up a second trilogy with the principle leads, which makes sense given how young the central cast is. Would be interesting to see this trilogy end with the redemption, rather than death, of Kylo Ren just as a larger threat looms on the horizon

Well I do think he's possibly capable of it. He is a very talented actor and we don't know the circumstances luke has been through or is responding to? Apparently it's a really powerful monologue JJ is referring to.

I don't however think the academy will even watch it. Never mind nominate him for it.

Good point. For all the Oscars Lord of the rings was nominated for and won, performance by an actor wasn't one of them.
