Our best hope is they decide their domestic chip manufacturing is good enough and domestic politics in Taiwan are in their favor long term.

I think that is likely to be what happens.

I do wonder if China attacking Taiwan and the Taiwanese sabotaging and destroying their own chip manufacturing so the Chinese can't take it might not be the best thing for humanity. It would probably set A.I. back a decade at least.

Israel has a fairly robust wartime censorship apparatus, so if Iran has been successfully cratering runways and hitting other military targets we don't necessarily hear about it. What we do see is the apartment complexes and hospitals that get hit, possibly due to incomplete interceptions/ electronic warfare countermeasures.

What Iran is hitting could also be due to just aiming at general areas and rushed targeting, but its hard to evaluate their target selection in this information environment.

Iran hit and destroyed the stock exchange building in tel Aviv today. They know exactly what they’re aiming for and are able to hit it. Despite the manipulations and omissions of media.

Hardly. You’re confusing it with the Palestinian flag.

All the Middle Eastern brown people probably look the same to you do they?

Yeah that was a typo you fixed it.

Once the bunker-buster tech is demonstrated in the field one of two things will happen: either it will fail to destroy the underground development base and teach every other nation how to protect their nuke programs or it succeeds but enough data is captured by China and Russia that they will develop effective countermeasures and potentially publish them. It's lose/lose.
Trump gave his standard two week decision window, which is code for never, so you don’t have to worry.

Two weeks from now is the 4th of July

The best day to start a war!

Technically just the best day to sign a strongly worded letter.

It’s great timing since America will be too distracted by fireworks, beer, and grilled meat to notice the deadline come and go. And I’m sure there will be several fresh calamities to take up headlines by then. Everything is ancient history after two weeks in MAGA land, flushed down the Image

I dunno. 4th of July is a pretty good day to sell a ‘make America dominate again with another suicide mission in the Middle East!’ To his base.

Nah, it’s a holiday of total escapism from the real world. No one wants to hear from Trump.

I hope you’re right. Seems like the main holiday for him to hijack and pollute with his bullshit

Also you guys really don’t make enough of a big deal about the message of Independence Day and battering the Brits. That was the entire point of it! Sent them home crushed and they never tried it on with you again.
Why isn’t the ‘we kicked the Brits out!’ The main message of Independence Day?
We did it too (mostly) and we’re not having an Independence Day until we take the 6 counties back. The. It’ll probably be Unity day every year rather than Independence Day. But same thing.
Tiochfaidh ár lá! Get your Brits out!

Etc

Well technically they did try it again, but I don't think their heart was in it by then.

Overall I think America would have been far far better off and in an infinitely better place now, had the French managed to colonise the whole place back in the day.

You’d all have at least a tinge of interest in culture and still have that air of insufferable superiority but it wouldn’t be as knuckle headed insecure machismo that Americans have today.
It would just be a snooty aloof indifference to the rest of the world.

And there’d have been none of this world police bullshit and causing and arming conflict around the world.

Missed opportunity there. We can only dream

Doubtful.

But I’m already speaking a language that isn’t my own as ours was forcibly taken from us
So no difference there.

The current American situation has been the best possible scenario. A geographically isolated nation free from the ancient grudges of Europe and Asia, holding the most nuclear might, using that power to desperately keep the rest of the world from completely annihilating themselves. It could be a lot worse.
