Re: The Vinyl Thread: Still Listen On Wax, Don't Use The CD
I don't think its some sort of nostalgic yearning for the days of my youth. Tweedy just hasn't shown he can write a standout tune anymore. If I heard Yankee Hotel Foxtrot for the first time today it would sound just as good as it did when I was 17. I might respond to it in a slightly different way emotionally as a 32 year old man but it would still sound good. You like the carnie music on The Whole Love though so I'm wasting my breath.cutuphalfdead wrote:You'll also never be that age again.

I didn't listen to them until The Whole Love came out, and went through chronologically. I'd say they dropped off considerably with Sky Blue Sky and Wilco, while The Whole Love is a solid record worthy of their reputation.

Picked up some nice used albums tonight:
Godspeed You Black Emperor - "Allelujah!"
Black Mountain - "In the Future"
Lilacs & Champagne - "Midnight Features Vol. 2"
DangerMouse + Sparklehorse - "Dark Night of the Soul"
William Basinski - "92982"
Just cracked open a new bottle of bourbon. Fresh baggy of weed. Wife out of town, solid night of records ahead.

Was hoping to pick up DOTU when a local store was having a sale; unfortunately, they didn't have any copies. I got Yield, No Code, all of those singles reissues, and Mark Kozelek's Live In Copenhagen all for 25% off, though.

It's all good. I've had Schmilco sitting on top of the platter and have yet to get to it. I think tonight's the night. No baseball game tonight. Really looking forward to hearing it.
I need done extra money. Some solid shit coming out.

Re: The Vinyl Thread: Still Listen On Wax, Don't Use The CD
That Mitch Hedberg collection intrigued me, but I'm not much for listening to comedy on vinyl. I almost always spin when I'm reading, writing, or planning to teach, and I feel like spoken word stuff would distract me.
I bought The Flaming Lips' "At War with the Mystics" like 4 months ago and never got around to putting it on. I have it spinning right now and it sounds gorgeous.
