Perhaps it's Pritchard's sound (I'm unfamiliar beyond this) but it doesn't have that thing that other Thom solos have where it feels laptopy and bare. Feels more like Kid A era radiohead with electro/organic string and synth flourishes.

Ice Shelf and The White Cliffs especially are especially doing it for me.
Laptoppy is an excellent adjective. The correct adjective.

That's a clever term, but Kid A era Radiohead is the worst Radiohead. They went from one of the pinnacles of 90s rock in OK Computer to a smoke alarm with words. Guitary to Atari.
ah yes, the era when they changed music forever. that was terrible.

Exactly. Maybe it was Thoms work with DJ Shadow that did them in, but it was never as good as the later half of the OK Computer tour

I like OK Computer alright but I'll take Kid A over it any day.

Kid A is a cool record. I still prefer the albums on either side of it, but that's not a knock on Kid A.

That's when they started getting REALLY good at playing the instruments they were second or third best at.

Listening to The Smile now

Teleharmonic is gorgeous. I love how tight it is and yet so loose, chill and a bit haunting.
