How does one determine whether such an event best fits in the guns thread or the right wing white supremacist one?

Sadly it was just during last week's shooting at the California festival that I thought we were about due for another mass shooting.
I also remember a few years ago someone mentioning that because of Texas' gun laws you'd never see a mass shooting there. Well, that's three (Houston school shooting just after Parkland, small town church shooting, and this) in less than two years.
It's time for Americans to admit that collectively we really don't care if this type of tragedy keeps happening.

I read the first few sentences only, it referenced the "Hispanic invasion of America."

I hate this country sometimes.

I find the inability of our government to meaningfully react to the intolerance that inspired the shooting more alarming than the inability to react to the use of guns.

In addition to today’s manifesto, the New Zealand mosque attacker and the Poway Synagogue shooter both used 8chan to submit their rationales. THREE racism/intolerance-inspired mass shooters, two of whom specifically credited the site with “waking” them to the dangers of multiculturalism. I can’t imagine any other online hub producing three mass murderers of such specific intent and not being seen as a terrorism center.

It regularly features posts defending genocide, mocking victims of violence, etc. A pride parade was almost shut down by a threat of violence posted there. A Jewish candidate in Seattle was the subject of a threatening post that included a picture of his family. I don’t know what the argument is for not treating it in a manner befitting a terrorist community.

Shocking

It’s actually an interesting insight into how these people think. It betrays a deep sense of hopelessness in the future and a sense of large scale social exclusion... much like you hear from traditionally underrepresented groups (there was an informative op-Ed on baltimore recently that described a similar feeling that permeates the city). It’s full of racist ignorance, and in no way am I endorsing that in any shape or form implied or otherwise, but that comes from somewhere and if this really is the biggest threat we face as a nation, it might be worth the time to understand the “why”.
