When Winona Ryder dies in that movie, her husband immediately sells his soul to the devil and lives on as a demon for hundreds of years, on the off-chance that someone else who looks like Winona Ryder may someday be born. Then, when he finally finds her, he allows Winona Ryder to kill him.

I have zero issues with Eggers. I actually have no opinion about him since I don't think I've ever seen any of his work. Some of it has looked interesting to me. I'm just not interested in The Northman.
