Neither do I and he’s my favorite Director. Either I’m too stupid to understand it or everyone else is just being pretentious.
I've only seen The Master and There will be blood. What would you suggest next?

No, watch Punch drunk love and then boogie nights and then licorice Pizza. But if you were only going to watch one more I would say boogie nights

I'm pretty smart, so I rank The Master at the top.

The answer is Boogie Nights either way (far superior film to PDL)

Explain it like I'm 5. It seemed pretty straightforward to me, but I'm not much of a movie guy.

Man I’ve watched it so many times and it never clicks for me. I think I get it, maybe I just don’t like it as much as everybody else. I really love some moments and I love the color scheme and the directing style but as a whole it doesn’t Completely work for me

When I watch The Master for two hours and thirty six minutes I don't think about wanting to die at all.

if there was a message it seemed a nihilist one; there was no structure or system that would save us from existential despair post-the war; emotional and spiritual independence is all

I thought it was interesting because a lot of movies would have taken the sentimental route of being about the character's healing post-war, but this was really only about the events the led up to his (hopefully) beginning to heal; the rest is up to us to imagine

All the best PTA movies are about the inexorable movement of history, the real unseen motor of the world. Punch Drunk Love is about getting really mad until you go to Hawaii.
