Maybe this is unpopular, but what if Gigaton was their last album? It was a return to form and a big highlight in their discography. Maybe it’s good to go out on a high note.

For now it is true. From what the members of the band have been saying (other than Jeff), that doesn’t seem likely.

I was at the show where Ed said a new record was coming

I’m just afraid the next album will be like Jordan going out with a Wizards jersey. Gigaton felt perfect and conclusive.

I fully do not believe that it will be their final album.... BUT if Gigaton was the final album it would feel appropriate. Very Collapse Into Now.

Im sure they all have thought about it from time to time. 30+ years is a long time.

I am guessing none of them do. This is a gig they can come back to any time they want. They work like 3 months a year. Their work is travel wherever they want and make hundreds of thousands of dollars to play 2.5 hour shows every third night and see the world. Release an album every 5 years or so to remind people they are still around, and otherwise enjoy their families. Need creative outlets? They have 9 months a year to do with what they please. No one to tell them no. I think they are all in a solid place.
