I think the thing that makes the studio version work is how the fragile nature of the song plays against its superficial bigness, and that's lost a bit live. At least in the middle of an arena show. I think it would be much better if they did it as a stand alone piece, like on Fallon or something
I love this tune.

Yeah, most of my friends who are "casual PJ fans" like this one the most. Hey, they are still making music that a lot of people like - I don't see anything wrong with that.

I've tried with this one but I just can't get into it. I actually think it is a really terrible song, right there with parachutes. I think though that a big problem that I have with it is that I can't get past the intro 80's wankery - whenever it starts I cringe a little. Having said that though I do quite like the middle third of the tune, just nowhere near enough to get past the first bit.

Side note - the wiffey loves Just Breathe but has banned me from playing this at home.

Oh well.

There's a Stip bomb in there. Can't wait.

Banned from just Sirens or the whole album?

Just the C word, man. I guess you're getting a bit more sleep now and aren't as on edge. Good news.

I trust no one who thinks parachutes is a terrible song.

parachutes was considered one of the low points of S/T round these parts when the album first dropped

Parachutes is lovely. I wasn't taken at first but it is now in the top 20 or so. Sirens will never hold that sort of place although it is a pleasant track.

some of it is a changed board population, and some of it is just people's opinions about the song changing (like me), but it's one of the more remarkable turnarounds I've witnessed on RM.

Everybody gets stiff for the rockers in the early days of an album drop, round these parts.

True, but it was really a parachutes thing. Come Back was a massive hit with RM, early on.

"Epic" balladry goes over well, and McCready power solos. That had bits of both.

It's just a general trend that rawk gets the early love.

Especially considering everyone was primed for it; S/T was billed as their "return to rawk!" album.

I get this weird sensation when I listen to this song now...I think they're called 'feelings'? I don't know how that happened.
