I've had some of my best races under-trained and some of my worst doing 100+ mile weeks.

Start slow, talk to people, have fun, dude. If you feel good, pick up the pace. It's hard to crater in a 50K.

And don't overdo the carbo-load.
I think Fall running weather gives you an edge if you think you're white knuckling it a little. That cool crisp Wisconsin air will be a boost.

It was a glorious AZ morning for running.

Mid-50s and blasting sun. Perfection.

I haven’t joined the app yet but I will. Good news is I haven’t run either so there’s no loss there. I again am hoping to get this going again over the weekend. How I ran the Brooklyn Half marathon in May and have to work towards the thanksgiving 5k is beyond me.

So I imagine the runnning season is kinda coming to an end for a lot of us at this time of year. My question is, how do you view your progress this year?

Personally, I improved a lot. I went from running a typical 6.5km route last year to running 12 and then 21 km this year. I put in a decent number of 15-17km runs too. I also think I made a lot of progress with my one mangled ankle so I am happy about that.

I'm not sure what I will do next year. A marathon is a nice thought but it's hard to say how realistic that is.

Yeah I run all winter. A few times a year I take it easy for a month but I actually never completely stop unless I'm injured. I'm not sure if that's smart or not but that's how I do it.

As far as progress I did pretty well this year. Started off the year rough with that terrible bone bruise that knocked me out for a few months in January and February but will still end up with well over a thousand miles. I was on track to finish my first marathon in October until my travel plans got scrapped. Overall I think I improved and have become more disciplined.
