Re: Disney+: Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
I thought episode 4 was a step down, both visually and in believability. Not sure where this is going ultimately, but I'm not very confident in the directing for another Vader/Obi-Wan showdown.

If they do another special edition of the original trilogy, they're going to have to change Vader's line to, "I sense something...a presence I haven't felt since...a couple of years ago."

Vader is probably wearing the same underwear in this series that he wears in Star Wars.epilogue wrote:9 years is still a long time, man.Simple Torture wrote:If they do another special edition of the original trilogy, they're going to have to change Vader's line to, "I sense something...a presence I haven't felt since...a couple of years ago."

Re: Disney+: Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
One thing I really liked is Vader’s motivation for searching for Obi-Wan. It’s nothing more than revenge. He basically blames him for all the bad things that have happened to him and the pure hatred and anger are what drive this quest. Very interesting.
Let me tell you, Homer Simpson is cock of nothing!

Re: Disney+: Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
I've got a lot of problems with how the series is dealing with lore (although, to be fair, they've been retconning Star Wars since Empire, and every movie has done it since, so it's not like Star Wars is some sacrosanct timeline that can't be monkeyed with), I do think the vengeful, angry Vader in this works. He's a middle-manager in Star Wars that other people laugh at, and it's not until Empire that he really, really feels menacing, and he begins to soften when he realizes who Luke is--but being able to see this mindless killing machine gives him a nice arc.

Re: Disney+: Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
I've referenced it before, and it's small in the scheme of things, but my head cannon of Obi Wan will always be a desert hermit, someone who spent the years meditating and in hiding, not someone who has been planet hopping and going on adventures. That's the sort of gravitas Guiness brought to the role, and it's how I still imagine him. But, as I said, some of the biggest plot points in the OT itself were retconned, so if they're gonna play around with the character, whatever, it's been done before.epilogue wrote:What lore stuff is bugging you?Simple Torture wrote:I've got a lot of problems with how the series is dealing with lore (although, to be fair, they've been retconning Star Wars since Empire, and every movie has done it since, so it's not like Star Wars is some sacrosanct timeline that can't be monkeyed with), I do think the vengeful, angry Vader in this works. Re: Disney+: Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Listening to the Ringer-Verse pod, and they mentioned some fan doing a twitter thread (that I haven't found/seen) about how each episode of Kenobi mirrors the corresponding ep of the Skywalker Saga. That's a fun theory given how much of Part IV of Kenobi was references to Episode IV: A New Hope.
And I wonder what that means for the final two episodes.

Perhaps adventuring OB1 is a force projection, and actual OB1 is chilling in his cave the whole time.Simple Torture wrote:I've referenced it before, and it's small in the scheme of things, but my head cannon of Obi Wan will always be a desert hermit, someone who spent the years meditating and in hiding, not someone who has been planet hopping and going on adventures.
