you think? i was expecting the royals to be tough considering how they've been playing of late.Self wrote:

Nah, I was just being a dick. They've got 3 games on the Rays, and the schedule isn't daunting. But, dropping 3 out of 4 to KC, no matter how they're playing, is a bit underwhelming. KC did well to get Shields & Davis from TB. they're not the royals of recent past.Self wrote:Nah, I was just being a dick. They've got 3 games on the Rays, and the schedule isn't daunting. that trade was awful for KC. They are nowhere near the position you'd need to be in to justify a win-now trade like that.elliseamos wrote:KC did well to get Shields & Davis from TB. they're not the royals of recent past.Self wrote:Nah, I was just being a dick. i don't know if it was "win-now" as much as it was about getting 2 SP for 1 OF. Supposedly it would have been Lester, Doubront, plus others for the same thing that TB got in return. I'd take Wade Davis & James Shields over Lester & Doubront.numbers wrote:that trade was awful for KC. but having a top-prospect OF hasn't done much for the likes of LAA or WAS, no? you can't piece together a rotation (w/o spending top dollar) like you can a line-up/defense.numbers wrote:The royals traded their top prospect, one of the top prospects in the game, for a poor mans ace(who's contract is up soon) and a back end starter. That's a trade you make when Shields and Davis are the final two pieces to make you a World Series contender.
Yup. And we should have been the ones to rape them for Myers.numbers wrote:The royals traded their top prospect, one of the top prospects in the game, for a poor mans ace(who's contract is up soon) and a back end starter. Well the Rays were alot better positioned to make that trade, but yeah, I think in hindsight I would have. Doubront has been much better than I thought he would have been in the winter though.cutuphalfdead wrote:Yup. Agreed with numbers--not a great trade for KC to make in their position (would have been an amazing trade for, say, Balitmore to really shore up their rotation). Also, don't forget there was another pitching prospect in with Myers--top 50 prospect who has now thrown a no-hitter in triple-A and looks more than poised to fill a Wade Davis role in the future. So...yeah, I pretty much love this trade for the Rays.elliseamos wrote:i don't know if it was "win-now" as much as it was about getting 2 SP for 1 OF.
