5. Soldier Jane - I got hungry. I hadn't had dinner (it's 1:50 am here), and I just smoked a bowl. What could you expect? Anyhoo, Soldier Jane... another classic sounding, solid Beck song. Like, not love.

6. Nausea - Dirty, sexy, bass lead groove. Simplistic, yet appropriate chorus. I've always liked this one.

7. New Round - Beck singing in round, with himself. Brilliant. I could probably masturbate to the idea of this alone. In execution, well, let's just say it delivers.

8. Dark Star - Mysterious. Sensual. Erotic. Sexx Laws were just eradicated, and Beck made love to my aural cavities with dreamlike psychedelia,...and harmonica too. This is my favorite so far.

9. We Dance Alone - I'm really appreciating the consistency of this album. It's songs like this that make me really understand how great Beck is. Although I would consider this a relatively undiscript Beck song, I enjoyed every second of it. Head bobbing. Feet tapping. Even his underwhelming work is still so nice to listen to.

10. No Complaints - This song is attempting to disprove the point I just made. Fuck you, Beck. You sarcastic dick. The bridge is kinda fun, but this song is pretty boring.

11. 1000BPM - I've loved this song since "The Information" was released. It's one of the few that I've revisited fairly regularly. I love this side of Beck. Beat, funky ass bass, Beck's sarcastic rapping... all of it so good. Toke... toke...

12. Motorcade - I'm not sure what to make of this song. It's musically interesting and layered, as most Beck music is, but I'm not necessarily gravitating to the melody of the vocal. I like the last minute or so quite a bit. I'm going to need a few more listens of this one.

13. The Information - see song 9: We Dance Alone. Same applies here. But I might like this one a little more.

14. Movie Theme - I just noticed that the last song on the record (the next track) is almost 11 minutes long. That's daunting and it has me wishing this was the album closer, which it certainly sounds like it could have been. And it would have been very fitting. A mellowed out tune that just fades beautifully away. The next 11 minutes better be worth it.

15. The Horrible Fanfare / Landslide / Exoskeleton - The first portion of this song is fantastic. Dingy groove pop hop, including scratching records and samples, and Beck rapping. Excellent. The second section is even better. Dirty southern groove, slide guitar, haunting melody. It is very reminiscent of "Black Tambourine", and it's sexy as fuck. I could listen to this part of Beck's sensibility for ever. Scratching records again for a moment... Section three slowly enters. A moody undertow is accented by an electric beat and slowly morphs into a mysterious spoken word segment... about space travel... and why shouldn't it?

I'm pretty sure this should move up my rankings. That was a fantastically fun listen. Beck almost always delivers intelligent, fun music. I think I just found a new album to fall in love with.

You must be high.

Last night, before I listened to The Information, I listened to Modern Guilt. I didn't like that one nearly as much. I'll need to listen a few more times to make sure that I'm not missing anything, but it definitely didn't grab my attention like The Information.

Yeah The Information is like his No Code. Ramshackling and zig-zagging its way to greatness.
