I think I’m in the same boat. At this point I’m just watching because of the name. Some stuff is cool and it looks star warsy, but the feeling isn’t there.Strat wrote:I do watch it over my morning coffee.
I dont know about this show. I think i only watch it because its star wars. I dont think the stories are that interesting nor are the characters that engaging. There are some elements that are fun to watch (evil chewie!) and I am a sucker for star wars world building.
But....i dont know.

I meant Star Wars guest of the week.
And no. Putting max rebo or a rancor in, isn’t the same as bo katan or Ahsoka.
That’s what I meant by guest star of the week.

I was surprised to see Stephen Root in this because I thought he was dead. Why did I think he was dead?

You guys are nitpicking. I get what dime's saying.
Last season of Mando was all big names overshadowing the story: Ahsoka, Bo Katan, Boba Fett, Luke. It was never, "what's gonna happen?" It was always, "who's gonna show up?"
Also, I'm liking The Twins.

I agree with b. This show has been great.
Loving it a lot more than Bad batch and it’s head and shoulders above Star Wars Visions.

I agree that those names were big, but it was also the best Star Wars tv season ever. Far better than this show so far.B wrote:You guys are nitpicking. I get what dime's saying.

B gets what I meant.
Ahsoka and Luke as awesome as they were, overshadowed the entire season. And Bo
Luke’s friends turning up in this isn’t anywhere like on the same scale of what I meant.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett - Disney+ 2021
I guess I don't think it ruined Mando, which I like better than this. It could be a good story even if you didn't bring in the major callbacks. It's just nice for the story to stand on it's own a bit.Anders wrote:I agree that those names were big, but it was also the best Star Wars tv season ever. Things like Hutts, Tuskens, and the rancor establish the story in Star Wars while leaving it as its own story.

But did it make the season worse? As I recall you roared with excitement just as loudly as the rest of us. So if it makes the story and show more enjoyable why are you making it seem like such a pejorative?dimejinky99 wrote:B gets what I meant.

God no. I loved them showing up. Some of my favourite stuff in Star Wars ever.
But I think that not happening in here is sorta shading how people are viewing this one. Or even not enjoying it as much maybe? I dunno.
It isn’t grabbing me same way mando did both series. But I’m still enjoying it.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett - Disney+ 2021
I think since Fett has been such an established character in the SW lore for so long each of us had preconceived ideas of how he would be depicted in a series devoted to him. And his return in Mandalorian sure seemed to lean towards certain notions in that direction. And that is the bane of the series. Almost nothing they present could live up to our expectations. Probably most of us expected seeing the same badass that appears in Mandalorian just be a badass all the time in a show that bears his name. But that’s not what they’re doing. They’re working towards an overarching plot line that may not even bear out in just one season. And the story building may not have been the expectation. For me, I did expect a little more Fett action in it, but it’s been fine so far. Honestly, I felt going in that it would be EXTREMELY tough for it to be as good as Mandalorian S2 but since that was the best Star Wars we’ve had since ESB, I thought that was allowable.

He’s got multiple Targets on his back from multiple crime syndicates.
He’s got no backup whatsoever.
Who’s he gonna call? The Mandalorian and the Mandalorians. All of them.
They owe him one.
This is gonna tie into season three of mando I reckon. Somehow.

Hmm. I haven’t given that much thought. I don’t really see it happening since he’s not and doesn’t consider himself a Mandolorian, but who knows? I’m ready for Bossk and Dengar to show up, tho.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett - Disney+ 2021
I think expectations are irrelevant when it comes to whether or not something is good. They absolutely introduce emotion and heighten reactions when met or subverted but execution is much more important. Produce a quality product. The one caveat is consistency: it matters when handling characterization and a serial narrative. Fett's depiction in Mando was of a capable warrior still at the top of his game. We have yet to see much of that in Book.wease wrote:I think since Fett has been such an established character in the SW lore for so long each of us had preconceived ideas of how he would be depicted in a series devoted to him.
