Thanks man. I don't need to listen to it now, I can hear inside my mind thanks to your description. :nice:

Song is called "I hear sirens cause I just smothered Scott Stap with my morning jacket behind the counter in a drug store"

I'd be thrilled if Pearl Jam ever did anything resembling the B52s.

As much as I love the B52s, that'd end up sounding like Backspacer again.

At the very least they could cover REM's Me In Honey.

You know if this track is some kind of jam/improv, I reckon PJ should just do an entire album of improv tracks. Just jump in the studio with nothing written or planned, and play. They could end up with their best album to date, or at least something miles better than their last couple of albums.

I wish. They are way too goddamn precious about their material though.

the problem is that these things will eventually have a thick glossy coating of production drool plastered all over them, and the life will be sucked out.

I hear some of Force of Nature, but I also hear a heavy influence of Truth Be Known from Mirror Ball. The pacing and guitar work really remind me of those two songs. It's about a step slower than FoN and is a bit more ominous than Truth Be Known though.

If it gets anywhere close to Song X, I will be ecstatic. IMHO, next to Truth Be Known, Song X is the best song on Mirror Ball.

So are we saying this song might not be "derivative" or "generic"?
