I like this song more every time I hear it. It just really gets off to a rocky start with a few weak lines from Eddie.

I still enjoy the chorus and any part of the song where the band get to let loose.
Man, that verse, though. It's just horrific in its gaudy, pseudo-inspirational, calculated lightness. Why they insist on returning to repeatedly plough that furrow (Unthought Known, chorus of Marker, etc), I'll never know.

All of them; Ed's vocal melody and the overall musical feel really don't work for me at all.stip wrote:is it all the verses, or just that first one?Birds in Hell wrote:I still enjoy the chorus and any part of the song where the band get to let loose.

I'm with you in regards to the chorus, however. I don't see anything wrong with it.

Re: New Song: Lightning Bolt
I think it's bc with the build of the verses it's leading somewhere special and then it's just Lightning Booolt. Anti-climactic but we'll see on record.Birds in Hell wrote:You monster.evenslow wrote:I'm basically the opposite of this.Birds in Hell wrote:All of them; Ed's vocal melody and the overall musical feel really don't work for me at all.stip wrote:is it all the verses, or just that first one?Birds in Hell wrote:I still enjoy the chorus and any part of the song where the band get to let loose.

People sure seem to love songs that "build", huh?
In a general sense, I don't think I do. It so often strikes me as kind of...artificial.

Actually, manipulative is probably a more accurate description of what I'm trying to describe.Birds in Hell wrote:People sure seem to love songs that "build", huh?
