Elway does not mess around in free agency. Ward and Talib on day one. Not too shabby. (I'm ignoring the DeMarcus Ware rumors for now. But that would be...)Green Habit wrote:Yikes. This came out of nowhere. I guess DRC isn't coming back.
I eagerly await the Belichick press conference where he refers to Talib as "the corner".
Schefter is really building us up for disappointment if he is wrong.MitchCumstein wrote:(I'm ignoring the DeMarcus Ware rumors for now. But that would be...)
I'm not as concerned about the injuries (nothing chronic yet) as I am about the character red flags. Now that he's been paid bigtime I worry about what kind of trouble he could get into.Coach wrote:Clearly Denver is ready to mortgage the future in order to give Manning a couple more shots at a title. Not a bad strategy and one that some here in New England would like to see employed given that Brady might have 3-5 years left.
In regards to Talib, you are getting a shutdown corner, who, when healthy, is among the best in the game. The problem that he had was staying on the field, as he was injured during the regular season and missed the majority of two AFC Championship games due to injury.
In New England, they are all about loading up and depth on the 53-man roster so I'm sure they'd make it fit.Green Habit wrote:I'm not as concerned about the injuries (nothing chronic yet) as I am about the character red flags. Meanwhile, it sounds like the Pats may retaliate by grabbing Wesley Woodyard. I like the guy and they'd be getting a hell of a leader, but honestly I don't see where he's going to fit in there. The whole reason why he's leaving Denver in the first place is because he couldn't play Mike linebacker and Trevathan Wally Pipped him at the Will position. In NE do you move Mayo over to Mike when he comes back? Can he play there?
Sounds like this is all but official.Green Habit wrote:Schefter is really building us up for disappointment if he is wrong.MitchCumstein wrote:(I'm ignoring the DeMarcus Ware rumors for now. But that would be...)
Just beat me.Green Habit wrote:
I realize that this means nearly nothing in March, but the Broncos adding Ware and the Chiefs losing three starting O-linemen really looks like a huge mismatch waiting to happen.durdencommatyler wrote:

You don't have to tell me. I was really looking forward to maybe winning one against the Broncos this year. We've still got a long way to go, but it's not looking good for my boys.Green Habit wrote:I realize that this means nearly nothing in March, but the Broncos adding Ware and the Chiefs losing three starting O-linemen really looks like a huge mismatch waiting to happen.durdencommatyler wrote:

Looks like WIN NOW mode. Can't blame them, and hats off. The Chiefs always feel like a "yeah, but next year" team.Coach wrote: Creative dig from a sports media critic, but in all seriousness, bravo to Denver. Great free agency run.
I was still surprised the Broncos won at Arrowhead this year, and I'll still be worried about the next game there.durdencommatyler wrote:You don't have to tell me.
