I thought the Pit would have a thousand threads on it open but it's looking strangely quiet over there.
Either that or I got scared away by mile long user signatures and quickly shut that page down.

Really positive on Reddit from what I can see.

The two comments I saw on the Pit (all I could stomach):
-Ed is too low in the mix, sounds like he is mumbling
-At least Ed's singing the whole thru keeps the song interesting

When he is in his sweet spot nothing hits me quite as hard. It's a warm blanket and mountain summit and a satisfying righteousness all at once.
totally

I think this is why I love the pre-chorus best.

radio friendly heavy rock n roll. this is great. eddie vedder is the clear mvp of this song for me. i know its cool to hate EV here, but he's fucking amazing.
also, i dont think its fair to compare it to DotC.

I’ve just created a new account, had one years ago here on the old board and haven’t checked in here for quite a while, so at the risk of getting shot down…what’s the issue/hostility people have with The Pit?

The ending drives me nuts. Let the boys cook a little! Just becuz Ed is done with his bit doesn't mean the train has to stop abruptly.

I know some have mentioned Riot Act vibes, am I the only one picking up some You Are vibes in some of the guitar sounds? Obviously in a heavier space etc
I really dig this song...bring on the album and the tour!

We're like two Koreas.
We are South Korea.

It's mostly that it seems a mess over there... too many duplicate posts and odd topics. Not enough balanced critique of the band. Too much Eddie worship and not enough honest evaluation of whether the band is still trying to push their creative boundaries.

Again the RM official opinion is that we love those guys but they don’t like us.

I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could, but as is I've voted 3. Probably it bumps up eventually. Agree it could have gone on a bit longer after Ed wraps up his part. Hugely enthusiastic about what this means for the rest of the record.
