Was doing some research on this because I find the compression too much to handle.

From what I've read...

The Atmos mixes on streaming services are lossy but the bluray rip is lossless.

The 7.1 mix from the bluray has a DR12, while the 2.0 mix has a DR5 (so much better dynamics on the 7.1 mix!). See spolier for details. Note these are not my measurements. I just found them on the internet.
Spoiler: show

So you could take the 7.1 mix from the bluray and use the downmix tables from this website, which are based on the AC-3 standards, to create a more dynamic 2.0 mix.

Anyone know if that would work?

I do like the album overall but agree with a lot of the production concerns. I miss the Binaural Riot Act production sound.

Funny, while I enjoy many of the tracks on those records, I see deep flaws in the production. It's a bit muddy and muted for my liking. Also - turn the guitars up - you're a rock band. Avocado could have been good, but the production sounds very thin. This record should have been YUGE and blown us out of our seats.

Give me Vs/Vitalogy/Yield type production. Crisp, loud distorted guitars that don't break up. Yield has a warmer feel than the other two, but I like the way the songs SOUND on these records.

Is the RIP facetious or did we actually lose him? I hope it's the former... We had a couple good spars when DM came out.
