That chorus is definitely not my favourite part of the song... although it's not really a chorus so it's fine.McParadigm wrote:For the benefit of Mr. Mikedimejinky99 wrote:I'm hearing profound circus too but I think it fits.

So profound.
I think one of the things keeping me out of this song is that its like 50% chorus. And it is pretty, but that 'needs mer chorus' thing is something that drives me nuts about a lot of modern pop....25 seconds of verse, 45 seconds of chorus...it feeds the energy level an helps make a song seem "big," but it's just not for me.

i am having a hard time telling the chorus from the verse, especially since the chorus lyrics don't really repeat, do they?

That "Waahaaah!" Even Flow video is a live version, isn't it?

The 'Sirens' video in terms of production is their best 'live' music video since 'Alive'.keeponjammin89 wrote:Oh interesting i guess ive never payed much attention to there music videos before lol.
'Save You' was quite shitty, 'Evenflow' was a bit of a mess, 'The Fixer' was... well...

They're pretty long for choruses because they both have two sections / movements to them, so if they are choruses, they're not short enough to be typical ones; they're both like a chorus and a bridge mixed together. It's weird.Lounge Lizard wrote:Um.. they do?stip wrote:i am having a hard time telling the chorus from the verse, especially since the chorus lyrics don't really repeat, do they?

Even Flow was the re-recorded Dave A version (from memory).
2nd chorus and 3rd chorus lyrics the same or very close.

I'm quite glad I heard the studio one first. I loved it on first listen but there are also things I liked about the live version and weaker spots on the studio version.keeponjammin89 wrote:Now im feeling im not gonna like the studio version as much.

You can't hear Stone on the studio clip. Ed and Stone are the 'Sirens'.
Although Mike wrote it.

Re: New Song (9.19.13): Sirens
I'd agree - the 'fragile life' line and 'could be for me next time' are particularly connecting and it was the first time I've had a really deep emotional response to a song since Riot Act. I'll avoid the soppy exposition about having kids and realising how fragile life is (but it is something that hits you hard). It's one of those observations that is so banal yet when you actually grasp it is a truly enormous moment. It's not just kids that give you that perspective but it is a different experience.LetMeSleep wrote:A couple of people days ago mentioned that it really struck them, especially as parents. Maybe the ice is thawing. Parenthood does weird shit to you emotionally.
The other part (sirens coming for you) is that your the old guy now yet your kid sees you as invincible. I now have to cope with the knowledge that I am actually totally vincible but know the expectation from my two young sons - again, not just a parent thing but it does give you an unavoidable perspective on things.
Of course if this is where the song is coming from and you don't quite relate to those feelings then it is possibly just Inside Job Part II. I'm disappointed Jeff didn't use his 12-string to give a bit more of a homage to Cheap Trick.
While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.
