Okay, there are the new vocals, then. I dig this one.

Are we sure this is a re-recording?
i think it's just the original tracks, chopped up and re-arranged, with eddie re-doing the vocal
And Matt redoing the drums.

This is quite good, but why'd he do it? If he wanted Release on the soundtrack, why not just put Release on there. Did it sound too out of place with the original vocals? And why the drums?

Who knows? The original version of Release opens the movie, then you get this updated one closing it out.

The two guys (Ed and the director) probably came up with this one after he rejected Ed's new songs...a way of saving face or contributing something "new" to the movie.

This new version of "Release" has a real "unsharpened pencil" quality to it, if y'know what I mean.

Also I think Matt's playing drums (there are new drum parts), and the song seems a lot more monotone with less dynamics than the original. So yeah it sounds new to me, even if they've deliberately tried to make it sound sonically similar.
I haven't done a very detailed comparison but, from a quick listen, I'm fairly sure it's Krusen's original drum parts (just re-edited).

There have been two links posted

This one

is the original track.

While this one

is the new version with new vocals and possibly a new drum track.

I went to the opening day of the movie... great movie... but man this would have been great with Vedder's song...

I could ear those songs fit well at some parts of the movie. Ed's got a real talent to feel a movie and translate it in is music. Sad to see the producer did'nt see that... even if those songs are too personal.....
