Yeah that was fun. The first half was awkward but Rhys was out of this world. He acted his ass off. I want to watch it again.

I really enjoyed last night's episode, and the series has managed to get me to care about their kid, which I didn't think was possible. The only big critique I have of the series, besides the opener, is that they really needed more episodes. I feel like you can tell they are trying to fit more story than is comfortable in six episodes. They could easily have done two episodes, one of the MOTW and the other of Scully's mom.

I actually did care about their kid. Even in the initial run. I kinda love that they're FINALLY making a big deal out of William. It always bugged me that the show was so cavalier about him. This makes so much sense and gives Skully so much to work with. And Gillian is killing it.

Yeah, though surprisingly one of the most effective part of the series for me thus far has been Mulder thinking about their kid. Bonding over space rockets and the Monolith in 2001, and then it turns out that his greatest fear for William is a repeat of what happened to his sister.

I think the initial problem with William, if they had made a big deal about him in the last few seasons of the original show, was that he was so young that he'd just be a prop for the most part. What they had to do was age him up--you remember how on shows like the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air that there'd be a baby one season, and he'd be six years old the next season? I have no doubt that they're building towards him being a part of the finale, and now they can have him played by a young adult actor (someone 17-20) who can actually be a part of the story and have some agency/feelings/emotions/involvement, it's going to be far more interesting.

It's interesting how each of the episodes so far this season have been of a "type" from the original run. Episode 1 was a mythology-preimiere-information-dump episode (a la "The Blessing Way" or "The Beginning"); Episode 2 was a backdoor-mythology episode (like "Red Museum" or "Leonard Betts"); Episode 3 was, of course, a Darin Morgan episode; and Episode 4 played off of two types: the in-your-face-character development (like "Beyond the Sea" or "Memento Mori") and the "Mulder and Scully barely have anything to do with the X-File and it sort of resolves itself on its own" type episode (like "Die Hand Die Verletzt" or "Kaddish"). Next week's episode sure looks like a self-aware romp, in line with "Hollywood AD" and "Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man" (and maybe "X Cops"); but we'll see how it plays out. It's just fascinating to watch the writers sink back into their patterns and to have it work so damn well.

I loved the use of music in this episode; I know the title "Home Again" is more of a nod to some of Scully's words to her mother, but the use of the music during the murder in the woman's house was a nice nod to "Home." To echo others, Anderson was just great in this, reminiscent of some of her best work. And I thought, besides the jokey "Oh, Philly sucks" stuff at the beginning (even though it does) that this may have been Duchovny's best performance of the return series, too. Like others, I'm salivating at the thought of what this would be like as a Netflix or HBO series (imagine 50 minutes with no commercial breaks), but I still think it works well in the network format.

Another great episode. Im happy with the number of episodes, this feels right. I dont want to wait for 24 ones to finally get to something...this feels ok.

Gillian Anderson is at the top of her game here guys, she is bringing another level to this show.

And the Trashman was spooky.

I lol'd when he made fun of the 76ers.

Watched the first 2 episodes last night, and so far, so good.

Ugh, I did not like the latest episode. A dull slog. Reminded me of all the boring late-season episodes.

For the love of God, no more goddamn hospital scenes, please. And no more of Scully being a whimpering drip. Ugh. I don't care about all this family bullshit.

That did cross my mind--the fact that we've had heavy-handed hospital scenes in 3 of 4 episodes. It's one of the few notes of staleness that I've felt so far.
