So we clicked to see what it cost and it was already sold out. A bit of a disappointment, but it happens and that's fine. But I am getting tired of this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pearl-Jam-Light ... 20db0534de

Seems like any time anyone releases something limited, it disappears from regular price fast and reappears equally fast at a new market price. I know it's naive, but I think it's nice when the people who make the initial purchase actually are excited about the product.
I would seriously like to murder the person who did this
The one who buys it is the one who deserves to die.
Well, I won't have to travel far to find my first victim. It turns out that my buddy (the same guy who I bought tickets for and took with me to Brooklyn 2) is one of these jerks, listing his copy for sale on ebay already for $900. Well, no problem. I know where he lives. And when his vinyl arrives I will break into his house in the middle of the night and steal it... and just to make a point, I'm thinking about kidnapping at least one, or maybe all 3, of his children... :naughty:
Really punish him, leave the kids.

Isn't that more of a punishment for you than it is for him?

I'm very late to this, so I logged on to see if I could purchase this item and it is sold out...although I can't say I'm that bummed as it's my understanding that this is a release of No. 7 tunes from each record????
Spoiler: show
what the fuck, pearl jam?

It's a hobby that primarily utilizes your credit card to create the illusion of having achieved or succeeded at something, rather than involving any of the constructive effort or practiced craft that a hobby usually entails. Even if you get creative or crafty with the way you display your collection, then that's still a home decor-type side-hobby that sprouted off of your main one, which is pretty much just the thematic buying of things.

But the great thing about hobbies is, you don't have to give a shit what I think about it.
Agreed 100%
Yeah, what McP said.

Maybe if there is some challenge involved. Like if its old stuff that you have to seek out (but in this internet age its hard to think of anything). And it has to be something finite. no ongoing bullshit. Too easily exploitable. They can always pump out more when they need to shake the money tree.

But enjoy it if you must.

Credit to 10C for making collecting appear to be a sport. Although in a few month this will probably be re-released.

And as long as this crap is lapped up, it will be served.

I'm not collector at all, I just thought this was a nice thing to purchase. I didn't buy the LB CD, nor the Constitution Hall vinyl. I think collecting is a bit silly. I can understand it, but it must become an obsession at some point to feel the need to have every freaking type of recording they release.

The ones I don't get are the collectors who get this stuff off PJ and then leave it unopened, sealed, and sitting in a shelf. And I know a lot of them and I still don't understand it.

Yeah, this shits me too. I buy all of my vinyl to actually play. Having it sitting in plastic on a shelf is pointless, you may aswell just have a laminated piece of cardboard.

It would be hilarious if they sold "collector's item" records without records in them. It would be cheaper to manufacture, and no one would find out anyway as they wouldn't be planning on opening them.

Some of them buy multiples. I have pale who have all the pj albums on all formats from every country they were issued in.

what would they do to make the weight the same? just a piece of vinyl that has no music on it?

So 10c have just posted saying this will only be available through 10c and amazon orders will not be honoured. Nice. And the PJ diaspora is naturally up in arms about it.
