I don't know that one.

I'm holding off on my thoughts since I think I had a breakthrough this morning.

Oh and Stip, if I had to guess your three favorites... I'd go with Paris is Burning, The Strangers and All My Stars Aligned.

Ah! 2 out of 3. And yeah Apocolypse Song makes sense. I should have guessed that one, actually. I made sure to include that one because I thought it would be right up your alley.

all my stars aligned is probably number 4 or 5. Apocalypse song is amazing except for that handclapping/tap dancing distorted little bridge (it works as an outro). It's such a pointless distraction in an otherwise majestic song. There are more than a few tracks on here that suffer from that. A few months ago I described a tendency to be weird for the shock value/faux artistry of it, and that's still all over too many of these songs. i'm just becoming more tolerant of it, or enjoying the rest enough to put up with it. It's doubly frustrating because her songs are so clever to begin with that she doesn't need to add those moments--they distract, rather than enhance

What has really impressed me is the way her voice manages to define a space without filling it in--it maps out the borders of a room but leaves the center open for you to occupy by yourself and take it all in. She sings around you--immersive without touching. It's very compelling.

that was nice. I'm probably going to get her other albums once I'm really comfortable with Joey's mix.

Swamped at work, so no review yet I can say that the first thing I do every day as soon as I get in the car is put on apocalypse song.

stip's opinions seem plucked from thin air, as if a random cloud of phrases surround him and he blindly captures them for use in expressing himself
