Amusing as Diaz was, him thinkin he won every round is ludicrous.

**Here are the results from UFC 183 last night in front of 13,114 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and a gate of $4,500,000:
*Thiago Santos over Andy Enz by TKO at 1:56 of Round 1
*Ildemar Alcantara over Richardson Moreira by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
*Rafael Natal over Tom Watson by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-27)
*John Lineker over Ian McCall by unanimous decision (29-28 all)
*Derek Brunson over Ed Herman by TKO at 0:36 of Round 1
*Miesha Tate over Sara McMann by majority decision (29-28, 29-27, 28-28)
*Thiago Alves over Jordan Mein by TKO at 0:39 of Round 2
*Thales Leites over Tim Boestch by arm-triangle choke at 3:45 of Round 2
*Al Iaquinta over Joe Lauzon by TKO at 3:34 of Round 2
*Tyron Woodley over Kelvin Gastelum by split decision (30-27., 28-29, 29-28)
*Anderson Silva over Nick Diaz by unanimous decision (50-45, 50-45, 49-46)

**Fight of the night went to Thales Leites vs. Tim Boestch and performance bonuses went to Leites and Thiago Alves. All of the bonuses were for $50,000 and therefore Leites made $100,000 extra.

There were some close rounds in the main event but it was a significantly more conservative version of Anderson Silva. The Silva of three years ago would have finished this Diaz within two rounds. There are definitely a lot of fights you can make with Anderson Silva and the biggest would be Georges St-Pierre, which based on last night’s fight is the first time St-Pierre may be willing to overlook the size disparity because this was a toned down version of Silva. Silva has said he will go home and speak with his family and decide if he wants to continue fighting. His manager, Ed Soares, has stated publically that Silva will fight again for whatever it is worth.

**The fight between Diego Brandao and Jimy Hettes was pulled at the last minute when Hettes briefly passed out prior to the fight. The doctors stated he could go ahead and fight but the commission wouldn’t allow it. Both fighters were paid their show money.

**The UFC takes next weekend off and their next card is the February 14th Fight Night card. In Canada the main card will run on TSN and the preliminary fights will air on Fight Network.

**UFC president Dana White stated at the post fight press conference that Vitor Belfort was asking to have an interim title fight on February 28th at UFC 184 after Chris Weidman had to pull out of their bout. White contacted Lyoto Machida and Machida was ready to fight but then said Belfort didn’t want the fight with Machida. White hinted that they have another idea for Belfort.

**Benson Henderson has stepped in to replace Stephen Thompson on the February 14th Fight Night card in Broomfield, Colorado against Brandon Thatch. The fight was announced after UFC 183 last night with Henderson returning four-weeks after his fight with Donald Cerrone back on January 18th. This will be Henderson’s first fight at welterweight in his career.

**Miesha Tate broke her left orbital bone in two places during the opening round against Sara McMann and was told that she will need 4-6 weeks for the bone to heal.

ANDERSON SILVA TESTED POSITIVE FOR ANABOLIC STEROID PRIOR TO UFC 183 MAIN EVENT

Anderson Silva tested positive for drostanolone metabolites during an out-of-competition drug test ahead of his UFC 183 bout with Nick Diaz, according to a statement released by the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Although the test was administered on Jan. 9, the UFC’s statement claims that it was not notified of the result until Tuesday. Drostanolone is an anabolic steroid. UFC fighters who have recently tested positive for drostanolone include Kevin Casey, Brian Ortega and Piotr Hallmann.

Additionally, NAC Executive Director Bob Bennett informed MMAFighting.com that traces of androsterone, an endogenous steroid hormone, were also found in Silva’s system. The NAC is expected to conduct further testing to confirm Silva’s preliminary results; no punishment has been set for the ex-middleweight champion. The 39-year-old Brazilian had never previously failed a drug test during his UFC tenure.

Silva was out of action for more than a year after suffering a gruesomely broken leg in a loss to Chris Weidman at UFC 168. He returned to the Octagon this past Saturday at UFC 183, taking a five-round unanimous verdict over Diaz in the evening’s main event at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

“Anderson Silva has been an amazing champion and a true ambassador of the sport of mixed martial arts and the UFC, in Brazil as well as around the world. UFC is disappointed to learn of these initial results,” the statement read. "The UFC has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents by its athletes."

**Combate out of Brazil broke the news today that bantamweight Raphael Assuncao is hurt and out of the main event of the March 21st Fight Night card in Rio de Janiero. The UFC is seeking out a replacement to fight Urijah Faber in the main event of that card.

**A lightweight bout between Gray Maynard and Alexander Yakovlev has been added to the Fight Night card on April 4th in Fairfax, Virginia. Maynard has been stopped in his last three fights while Yakovlev is cutting down from welterweight for this fight.

Jeez, more drug stuff? No wonder Jones and Silva seem so unstoppable...

GSP was right: Every other motherfucker is using PED's. Some are just luckier and better at masking it than others.

I hope this sport doesn't go the way of professional cycling.

The great thing about the UFC and Dana in particular is that he's not afraid to fire someone, no matter what their status in the company or what numbers they can draw.

Sad thing is that Anderson, if he quit after this fight, would go out greatest of all time. This is the black mark no one wants on their legacy.

I'm not really surprised to hear Silva does roids - guy clearly has no problem fighting dirty. He's super talented and entertaining, but I kinda hate him.

Do you guys have a personal favorite fight?

The two that come to mind for me are Bigfoot/Hunt and Teixera/Maldonado.

I'm really interested to hear you flesh out this sentiment. Do you think he has always approached fighting with a "dirty" mindset? How long have you been following MMA? I'm not challenging you - just curious.

He's been around forever, is the thing. I think when a fighter ages they are prone to making desperate, often stupid, decisions. 99% of these guys don't know how to do anything but beat the shit out of other men. They have to make hay while the sun shines and as a result their ethics waiver.

Some great choices. My favorite fights all occurred in Pride: Cro Cop/Fedor, Diaz/Gomi and Hendo/Wanderlei. It was just so much more of a primal spectacle.

Not that long, but in the time I have, I've seen him very deliberately pull trunks, grab the fence, and even try to smear Vaseline on himself to make his body slippery before a fight. That kind of shit really rubs me the wrong way and puts an asterisk next to a victory in my mind.

Ha, that's exactly why I don't like the Pride stuff. It's too no-holds-barred. I like the technicality and structure of the UFC.

Fuck that. So many wonky judges decisions and manufactured drama. Just have a beer and watch some classic Pride, bro.

I forgot about Sanchez/Guida. That fight was just pure ridiculousness. That said, I never thought I'd see Fitch or a GSP/Hughes fight in anyone's favorites list. Fairly pre-determined if you ask me.

Still, I'm pleasantly surprised you know your MMA history.

I'm a sucker for technical displays of dominance. Hence, the GSP fight picks.

I can dig. What do you think of McGregor's utter dominance and fight control thus far?

Likewise, I prefer Pride and yesterday's UFC to today's scene. In fact, I rarely watch anymore. Totally lost interest, save for tracking title fight results, about 2 years ago.

Yeah, I stopped paying attention for a good 3-4 years until recently. The lightweight division is infinitely more interesting than it was in the past, at least.

I wish BJ Penn could still show up out of nowhere and wreck whoever is champ.

That chubby lil shit was arrested just recently for beating his buddy up in a hotel hallway. Don't count on it.
