My vote would be for Happy Songs For Happy People -- the perfect meeting point of all their strengths.

That hit the spot today KD, thanks. It was a little short but picked up in quality as it went on I thought. I knew Kids Will Be Skeletons well, Derrick Brown used it at one of his poetry readings I was at.

The new single was pretty boring. I listened to Hardcore...later. Amazing album.

Great! I imagine this one would be great for a run too:
first spin, new album sounds good
solid all the way through, no real standouts so far
another solid release by the brexit boys

This is kind of how I've felt about all Mogwai releases of late.

not sure about this new one yet. I fully got into mogwai with Hardcore.. and since then, all their albums have been very enjoyable (maybe rave tapes being the least so). They feel like they have a theme or a common thread thru them with memorable standouts (usually several) on each record. This new one also has an overall feel but I dont hear any stand outs yet. It also feels like they weren't in the same room when they got together and has some missing energy to it. dunno, its hard to describe.

Ritchie Sacramento is definitely a standout for me. I love that one. Everything else sounds like auto-pilot.
