I would say that Springsteen is a much more "American" flavour than anything else. It took me a long time to see past that Born in the USA aura and realize the amazing songwriter that he is.

I really did a 180 on Bruce. I went from total apathy to actually going out of my way to visit the Stone Pony in Asbury Park the last time I was in New Jersey.

For the record, I don't dislike them or anything. It just doesn't seem like they're much of a "thing" on RM.

Anthony Keidis may be the worst lyricist/singer in the history of Rock music. He is so fucking lucky that John, Flea and Chad are talented enough to make up for his horrible contributions.

That's way over the line. Kiedis is quirky, and I can totally understand someone hating his guts, but calling him the worst or acting like the band would be somehow better without him is pretty ludicrous.
