Twenty watt tube with electronic reverb and some tone shaping control knob thtat is supposed to let you move from a Marchell sound to a Vox sound. Nice leans and not monstrously loud. Doesn't do a great dirty past about an AC/DC like tone but that's what pedals are for. https://www.blackstaramps.com/products/ht-studio-20h
Does mean I have to sell my Traynor YCV40WR. Has the greenback speaker. I love it but it's just too loud. You have to be in a big room to push it in any way. http://traynoramps.com/guitar/ycv/product/ycv40wr/
My Marshall (as shown on the last page) is insanely loud for using at home too but I couldn't bear to sell it, it just sounds too good. I should look into getting an attenuator.

The best amps are always too loud for when the family is home. So awesome when you're alone and you get to push those tubes like they were meant to be pushed. Then, the inevitable happens and they come home... "Honey!!" "Dad!!"
It's like getting caught beating off.

I lived that exact scenario yesterday, Self.

My Fender Twin II has this master volume that was (i think) added onto the back of the amp. So, along witht he master volume, and channel volume on channel 2 (we confused yet?), I have an additional master volume that can cut all power in the back.
This is fantastic. I usually play through my headphones and an M Audio USB thing, so i can push the channel and get it cranking, then cut all the volume coming out of the amp, and have it come only through my headphones.
So, I get to really push the tubes all I want while keeping it int he comfort of my dome zone.

You guys ever consider pulling power tubes on those things to buy yourself a little headroom?

Perhaps the world’s most revered and classic wood combination for acoustic guitars, solid spruce and rosewood are at the heart of fender’s CD-320ASRW dreadnought. The solid rosewood back and sides help produce beautiful, ringing overtones and a rich, resonant sound.
The CD-320ASRW also offers high-end design details that are usually found on guitars several times its price. Whether you flatpick or play fingerstyle, this dreadnought has the acoustic volume and shimmering tone that are perfect for recording sessions or intimate yet powerful solo performances. Includes hardshell case.
Grade “A” solid Sitka spruce top with quartersawn scalloped X-bracing, grade “A” solid Indian rosewood back and sides
Traditional dreadnought acoustic body style
Comfortable mahogany neck with 20-fret rosewood fingerboard
Bone nut, rosewood bridge with compensated bone saddle
Aged white binding on body and neck with black/white/black purfling

Nice, Strat.
Guys, recommend me some amps under $1000. I don't play out or anything anymore and I don't get to crank shit too often. Been looking at a Marshall DSL40C. I like the idea of being able to drop the power down from 40W to 20W.

To offer a contrary view, having played both quite a bit, I'd always recommend a USA Tele over the Japanese but it depends on what you're after.

tragabigzanda wrote:Looks real nice, Strat. Haven't kept up with the latest trends, but as recently as 2010 I would suggest you st least consider saving a couple hundred and getting a Jap model. They play and sound every bit as good, and unless you're concerned about resale (or bragging rights), it's a better deal that allows you to put some extra money into guitar mods (better tuning pegs, a tail humbucker, etc).
Either way, I bet you won't regret a purchase.
Its such an affordable guitar as it stands though and gets nothing but wonderful reviews.
Im also itching for a new amp. ive had my Fender Twin Reverb II (Rivera Model) for almost 15 years now. IM not going to find a better sounding amp but im just itching to change up the tone. The Vox AC10 is eyeballing me as well....
The problem is I dont fucking play with people anymore so whats the point?
I just plugged in my Fender Telecaster JA90 and it sounded so beautiful. Im probably fine.

tragabigzanda wrote:Twin Reverbs are wonderful amps if you are able to crank them really loud, or if you are pulling out a couple of tubes to get a little grit at a lower volume. Otherwise, based on the pics of your apartment that I see on Instagram, I would strongly urge you to consider a small, boutique amp. I have a single 8" '63 Kalamazoo that is like a darker Champ, and it's just lovely. There are a number of new companies making similar models now, and that is absolutely where I would put my money if my primary venue was my living room (plus they're excellent for recording).
Ive pulled 2 tubes from my amp. It was also modded with an additional master volume on the rear of the amp labeled "recording". I can dial it in on the front plate then turn it way down witht he master volume on the back without ruining much of the amps tone. Its been a wonderful friend of mine for years.
