How's that for excitement?

Got my copy today and listening now that the kiddos are asleep. "Of the Earth" sounds definitive indeed. Blistering. Side One was great too, but no Corduroy.

Bingo!
And now that I've gotten to "Hard to Imagine," they did some things on this song melodically that I've certainly never heard them do, but I don't own a lot of recent boots so who knows.

Awesome. I love Fahey; he's amazing. What are your favorite records? I struggle with his later stuff, haven't made a great effort at getting through those years.
Pretty much the same. The first few records. The album titles are so long that I never remember them--same with song titles, but I love Sunflower River Blues and Sligo River Blues quite a bit. I worked at a record store for a little while and took some used stuff home, late-period stuff with effects, etc., and couldn't quite do it. Love the early stuff though.

I'm quite digging Of The Earth. Kinda tight/sloppy. I don't know how to describe it.

All you assholes who have names in the middle and at the end of the alphabet can go straight to hell; I still don't have an estimated delivery date.

Got mine and put it on last night. Just a cool experience and having Third Man and Ten Club together feels like it makes sense. The experience of opening and going through the package, flipping through the photo album, reading the intros, and then hearing it on my little old school vinyl player box just made for a very authentic feeling event in my basement. I felt like i got my own little mini concert.
Man, the band is really playing for keeps here. The star here is Mike, Ed's strength these days is engaging w/ the audience but he hangs pretty well enough on the rockers to let the band do it's magic. His voice these days works especially well on the mellower stuff, and I really like him on Let me Sleep and Pendulum. Everyone is on, and Mike adds lots of magic with leads and solos. Lots of little nuggets in his playing. It is clear he put some thought into his playing for this event. The song selection here really spotlights the guitar jam workouts. Of the Earth is the big event and it does not disappoint, just a seven minute boner for anyone that likes exciting guitar playing supported by a kickass rhythm section just locked in and roaring.
Out of Sand is a really cool and mysterious tune to me. Still letting that one sink in. There is something about Ed's lyrics that are hitting a nerve to me, very evocative and the distant and sort of muddled sound made it feel like it was some ghost singing it from 150 years ago. This one was an experience all by itself for me. I'll be going back to this one for certain, and really shows me that he maybe onto a new vein of writing.
I plan to do this a few more times in the next week or two. Very worthwhile purchase. I definitely want more Third Man/Ten Club collaborations in the future. I will certainly buy something from this sort of thing again.

Package arrived this morning as I was walking out the door. Pumped to check it out later tonight, and glad it's not sitting at my front door all day

I need to hear this "out of sand" tune.
Think I like what I'm hearing on the live version

didn't realize that it was confirmed that it was written for the new Twin Peaks series
wonder if this will be the official recording of it, or if there will be a studio take?
