EEAAO winning seems to be making the world happy today, and that's nice. Lots of people love this movie for lots of different reasons, and its win doesn't seem to piss off too many people (like the way Green Book winning did). The only demographic who seems to be a tad bummed about it is a certain slice of cinephile-snobs and we're kind of the worst anyway, so that's ok. Ireland also seems a little disappointed.

Since it really doesn't matter who wins, it's nice that they picked the movie that makes the most people happy.

Imagine if Maverick had won. But it would never happen since the Academy hates Tom Cruise even though according to Spielberg he saved the industry

That's a wholesome take, Argo. Kinda like when South Africa won the Rugby World Cup (3x) and it brought the whole broken nation together. So much joy.

My dad would be upset. He didn't like Maverick. He couldn't even get through it. It kept putting him to sleep and he complained that there was "too much talking".
