I can't believe everyone isn't sober at this point, like how dare you have a drink like a fiend, being sober and smoking weed is the way live! Also, I couldn't live without cigarettes!"
Please stop smoking and start drinking again, Joe.

I've never been cool enough to smoke
Smoking isn’t cool. Stop caving to peer pressure.

I think it's super weird that "sobriety" is the main reason people are smoking in the city again. It's fascinating.

I have smoked exactly one cigar in my entire life. So, I've never been a smoker of any kind. But it's been wild to watch this city, in which smoking vanished for the better part of a decade plus, embrace the habit again.

Again, disgusting anyway, though.
reminds me of hanging out with my friends in dingy bars and parties before cigs were banned everywhere, and the trashy girls who smoked them but were saintly enough to sleep with me.

Everyone I worked with in NYC only smoked so they could take breaks from work. One time I went to the gym during work for 45 mins and got in trouble. The city just promotes unhealthy behavior.

Smoking had really diminished when I moved here. From 2007 to 2017 there was a huge decrease. To the point that when I ran into someone smoking it was weird.

But now there's this sort of backlash to prior generations and it's getting bigger again.

Considering the state of things in the world, I’m thinking this is a Guilty Remnant situation. Let us know when they start wearing white.

Again, based on conversations and podcasts, it's literally a rebellion against older generations and an embrace of sobriety.

Lots of smoking in rehab. Are they gathering in circles to share their stories and begin to make amends?

Your hatred is not irrational, durds. They’re also redefining words.

I have misophonia so fucking bad. The sound that I hate the most lately is the sound a chip bag makes when a big dumb hand is in it. This guy behind me at my kid’s soccer game today sounded like he was wearing them as mittens and doing finger exercises. I wanted to kill him.

Haha, it is an inexplicably loud noise. Something about the frequency perhaps.

I’ll hear my wife or one of the kids opening a bag and immediately think it’s taking too long. I’ve been scolded more than once for asking someone to hurry up and get the chips out and stop crinkling the bag so much

Nope. We say chips for both MacDonald's "fries" and for packets of chips as well. Crisps is British.
