last night everyone told me that guinness draft is not really a draft per say, and that it's really just a stout and there are much better stouts. kind of confused about this still. also, still not sure how to drink the stuff with the foamy ball in it. are you supposed to pour it?

I only asked because it is a Canadian beer.

It's your beer, you can drink it however you want. That said, they would prefer you pour it into a glass and then let it rest until it has a very dark color body and a cream colored foamy head
They call it a draft can, or bottle essentially. it is a gimmick, but they are attempting to give you the experience of having a draft beer in an easy to bring with you form. Guinness is a great stout, there are plenty of others, but many many people like it, and it's a very good beer Macro or Micro brew. Also, it's essentially a light beer only 125 calories.

Big fan of this sentiment. Drink beer that you enjoy, always. If you want to try more beers, take mental or physical notes about what you enjoy and why, then seek more out.
If you found one you like, then by all means stick with it.
I don't drink Guinness very often (I prefer the rich sweetness and chocolate/coffee/bourbon notes of American stouts), but there really is something to be said about a good Guinness pour. Since Guinness is kegged with a combination of nitrogen and CO2 gas, a proper pour is more complicated than typical draft beer. You'll see it on specially made nitro taps (long, pointy faucets) which use a blend of nitrogen and CO2 pressure to serve. It pours much smoother with a lot less bubbles than other stouts on draft, and that special texture serves the dry, heavy characteristic of a Guinness quite well. This is what those cans with that special "widget" are all about. If you like this, you might also like
Donnybrook Stout from Victory Brewing Co., but those kegs are a lot less ubiquitous than Guinness.

The other day I trolled the local craft beer bar about trumpeting Grapefruit Shandy.
Well now theyre having a Bells event tonight that I cant attend. So I tweeted them asking when they were going to tap the crazy bells stuff.
Their response was "You have to have a grapefruit shandy to find out"
So I went to the bar, had my grapefruit shandy, and was rewarded with something called "Hopgrandslam" which was a boozier hopslam. Not as enjoyable as hopslam, but still a solid beer. And fun to say I had.

Yeah, I rarely get them anymore, although, I really do like their Pilsner and their 60minute. Lost Rhino is ok from what I've had. The Face Plant IPA was pretty good, and so was the Pilsner, but that is all I've had from them. What do you think?

I like the face plant as well. The new micros in MD (denizens, 7 locks) aren't bad either

This is the biggest hop bomb I've ever had in my life. it tastes like a triple hopslam, with a 300 ibu. I didn't care for it.

Had this last year and remember really enjoying it. It usually makes it to Houston in very small quantities about a week or so after the fact, so here's crossing fingers that I get some this year.
