The qualification is that a president nominates you and the Senate confirms. Unless the Senate is recessed, in which case the only requirement is that the president nominates you.

So technically the president could nominate bammer.

He does have experience in the courtroom.

Just for the record, Michelle Obama has a degree from Harvard Law. Never served as a judge, worked for a law firm for about three years before moving into the public sector.
