this could be interesting, but damn this doesnt sound good:

¨O’Brien credits playing the guitar for hours, along with the work of Win Hof—a motivational speaker and athlete known for his use of cold exposure to treat a host of mental ailments and diseases, including multiple sclerosis and cancer—of helping him get through it¨

I want to hear many isolated tracks of Ed O'Brien on Radiohead songs. Does this exist?

Seems unlikely outside of the band's archives.

Yeah, I'm uneducated on technical limitations. I just know that something similar exists for lots of Bob Weir tracks. Wasn't sure if that was a fan-made thing or someone close to the band that had access to tapes. I guess if there was as big of a taping culture for Radiohead as there was for the dead, maybe it's out there?

I'm just listening to his new solo track and starting to understand how much texture he really adds to the band. Even after watching them live a few times, I'd assumed it was all Jonny. I'd love to hear some of that stuff as ambient music.

It's well documented that O'Brien felt quite at odds with his role in the band during the Kid A & Amnesiac recording sessions, as their songwriting and arrangements veered away being guitar based. From memory he doesn't even appear on some of the tracks from that period.

How do you know if you're hearing Greenwood or O'Brien on the Kid A tracks?

Establish a baseline, like the sonics that kick off Lucky, or Treefingers. He uses guitar exclusively, and has an extensive pedal setup. When I hear sustain or delay, or washed out tones that sound like heavy wind, I assume it's Ed.

Check Morning Bell and Dollars & Cents on this comp.
