They kind of already introduced these possiblities in one of those last episodes of rebels where whats his name is roaming around this in between world and all the jedi's are there. RIght?

Didn't they announce last year the Matt Smith is playing Palpatine?

The more I think about it the more I hope Palpatine's laugh is a ruse. Or at least that is my wishful thinking.
