Going to watch the final hour tomorrow just to see how it ends but so far this feels like a comic book movie for people with MFA degrees.
This was terrible. One of the most tedious, juvenile movies I've seen in years.

Bullet Train.
Well, thats another tedious juvenile movie....really who understand this movie? At least it was compelling enough to be seated on the cinema.

I want to see this movie, from before your review. Hope I won’t feel the same way you did.

I don't know when stylish, sharply written indie comic book movies became bad, but we've always got Marvel

What a great movie.
Maybe someday I'll understand what people see in that movie beyond some nice vistas and an admittedly great performance by Florence Pugh. It is so limp and weak to me, so straightforward and surface-level
I thought the whole thing worked really well: great visuals, sonics, atmosphere, performances.
I saw
Hereditary when it came out and I liked it OK, but this was much better.

You may still enjoy it, we have pretty different taste in film. What I watched this weekend was not "sharply written," though. It was a pretty flimsy plot rife with logical inconsistencies and lowest common denominator humor.

I think they were masters-level students. And a pell-mell, unscientific approach to a master's thesis is far from unheard of

Hereditary is the kind of movie that I usually hate (super duper serious and dour horror that begs ppl to talk about whatever stupid obvious thing the fantastical element is a metaphor for) but I like it a lot. Not sure if I would put it above Midsommar though

Both are great but Midsommar is better, I think.

yeah, not sure which is one is better. Midsommar might be the best movie while Hereditary have more reply value maybe?
And damn two moments
-The car moment was a huge wtf.
-The son watching the fire with Toni Collette waiting in the dark in the fucking ceiling.

Thought Hereditary was really poor. Not seen Midsommar yet, but I’ve got it.

Hereditary is funnier than Midsommar (unintentionally) and for that I prefer it.

It's a movie that gets worse the more you think about it, I think
Great performance from the daughter though, she makes us care about the completely underwritten deal her character is going through
