I believe in you!

Also, that's a pretty big race by ultra standards. Probably end up with 400 to 500 entrants on race day.

Also, Ultrasignup needs to use some kind of weighted system.

Coming in first in a local Joe Blow race shouldn't count the same as winning Western States or Leadville.

The more the merrier. The thought of being "alone" in unfamiliar woods freaks me out a bit.

Isn't Slenderman from Wisconsin?

Thon? South Sudan, originally.

No dude, Slenderman lives in the woods near Waukesha. The only people that need to fear Thon are guards in the paint.

Understood. I got lost for about 45 minutes at night during the Flagstaff to Grand Canyon Stagecoach 100 and I was legitimately scared for my life.

Jesus! Mina is getting fast. 8-minute miles with an average heart rate of 135 on those short legs.

Kinda bummed I can't see her average cadence, but it's gotta be in the 190s at least.

Those Bostons are still $66.

I'm super tempted to hoard like six pairs.

I've noticed that too about Mina! Great to see her rounding into such good form.

I wish there were different colorways. I bought the black ones basically just to trash over winter.

For sure gonna fall short of 2K miles this year.

I'd have to average ~90 miles a week to get it done and that's not gonna happen. :gomez:

I need ~11 miles this weekend to hit 1,500. Should end up with around 1600 for the year.

R2D, thinking about following a Hanson's plan for my spring marathon. Thoughts? Debating between that and the Pfitz 18/55 plan. Leaning toward Hanson's because 10+ mile mid-week runs are almost impossible for me.

A Hanson plan make sense for you. You have enough mileage that I wouldn't be super worried about the shorter long runs.

Speed work and marathon pace runs are really the most important runs in marathon training.

I would probably suggest that you make sure to throw in some tempo into in the middle or end of those long runs. You wanna make sure to have some pep in those legs at the end.

I personally would really like to see you pay for a Daniel's VDOT plan at the Run Smart Project.

A BQ may be a stretch goal for you on this one, but you should be around 3:15 with some solid training.

What's your goal time?

3:30. What's the benefit of a Daniels plan over Hansons?

Specificity to you (with VDOT) and a granular approach that trains all the important systems with multiple effort/training levels and specific build, quality, injury prevention and final/tune-up phases.

It's a dialed-in measurement/physiology based approach with really specific runs.

There's no doubt, it's a pain in the ass.

I've never actually done one of his plans, mainly because I was in ultras for years.

I have read his book however and it's solid.

That sounds intense. But intriguing. Good thing I have a month to decide.
