Really? You don't think those movies are goofy AF?

My love for the Ewok movies probably has something to do with this

I think that's genuinely fascinating. As much as I love the OT, there's no way I can watch them without thinking about how goddamn goofy they are.

A large part of what I love about Star Wars is the campy, B-movie, Flash Gordon-ness of it all. Half the charm of those movies is how hokey they are.

Team DCT. Although I'd probably use the word "cheesy" instead of goofy.

I dont think 50s scifi b movies are goofy even it they are campy. I would say the prequels are goofy and awful in that sense.
Solo recaptures the tono of ANW very well. Way better than TFA for example.

They are paying homage to hokey serials, but I don’t think they feel hokey/cheesy/goofy/campy/whatever themselves. They are often light and playful and humorous, but that’s a different thing.

Fair enough. I'm good with that. Tomato, tomahto.

I think they're both. They are light and playful and humorous and then there are super campy and hokey/cheesy moments as well. They're really unique films, at any rate.

I honestly can’t think of any moments I would describe that way. Example?

Many scenes with Han and Leia in the OT were pretty damn hokey. Schmaltzy music, terrible dialogue.

I think this is on you, not the movie. Williams’s music ain’t fucking schmaltzy, and Kasdan’s dialogue ain’t terrible.

I think we just interpret this stuff very differently. I'm not sure that I can come up with an example that would satisfy you. I mean, honestly, just the design of Darth Vader. And the way he keeps pointing at that guy even after he's finished talking in ANH. That leaps to mind. It's hilarious and dopey as hell. The storm trooper who hits his head on the door. Leia's weird British accent that comes and goes. Virtually every line Han delivers.
We just absorb this stuff and filter it differently. No bigs.

A lot of Kasdan's dialogue is clunky. And a lot of the deliveries don't do much to disguise it. Having just watched Empire, all the stuff with Han and Leia on Hoth is unintentionally hilarious. It's soooo melodramatic. Especially in Ford's delivery. But again, that's charming to me. It paints a specific picture of the world and I wouldn't want it any other way.

I never even knew Han had dice before TLJ, and I still don't care about them.
Isn't the whole point of his blaster that it's just some mundane, practical tool in comparison to lightsabers? He should have just found it on the ground next to a dead body or something. The fact that they lingered on it was hilarious.
These aren't holy relics.
