I'm thinking about getting and carrying a gun. Not a gun kinda guy, but this shit is getting scary.

You really think it would prevent you from getting shot if you were in a mass shooting? Unless you walk around hyper vigilant 24/7 carrying is not going to prevent a lunatic who is most likely carrying a much more powerful weapon from getting the jump on you.

The commonly held Xian notion that Jesus controls (and will thus save you from) everything...is an extremely dangerous one. That's how beliefs like this come to fruition.

It's the same people who believe that nothing at all should be done about global warming or pollution because "Jesus controls the weather".

Everything is god's will, so there is no point in fighting evil. Jesus will do it for us instead. Just pray to him hard enough and he will make it happen.

Just another example of how religion will be behind mankind's ultimate downfall.
