The Weezy performance was not for me. I liked Carpenter's opener with Paul Simon.

If the NBC/Universal Music link is legit then the Domingo/Espresso series of sketches seem a lot more contrived.

the nothing compares 2 u performance was maybe somehow the worst of the bunch. miley has smoked away a lot of her voice, and what they did with the chorus was not good. lay off the cymbals, questlove.

What do you mean what they did with the chorus?

I'm with spike on this one. I was not a fan of that performance.

it was a rhythm thing i think, didn't flow like it should. i dunno, i'm not going to expose myself to it again to better recall.

miley was not at her best, and her cocky vibe doesn't really work when she's not.

I don’t think it was much different from the Prince version. The structure was a bit different from the Family version in that it had different instruments and such but overall it was quite faithful to the Prince/Family version.

Not so much the Sinéad version.

And I totally agree with you re: Miley’s voice. Smoking has ruined it. I’ve never been a big fan anyway, but her voice is absolutely terrible now. She won’t even be able to sing in 20 more years.

I'm sure Eddie offered some proper advice on this topic.

Miley was serviceable, Brittany Howard sounded exceptional as always.

The singer I was most shocked by on the night was McCartney. He sounded really old and croaky, nothing like when I saw him live in 2023. :(

Yeah, Paul sounded old for maybe the first time? I've never heard him sound like that.
