Isn't the whole point of his blaster that it's just some mundane, practical tool in comparison to lightsabers? He should have just found it on the ground next to a dead body or something. The fact that they lingered on it was hilarious.

These aren't holy relics.
I think the blaster was always unique and customized. But I could be wrong. I didn't really care about the origin of the blaster before Solo and I don't feel any differently about it after.

It's not as overt as all of that. You'll see tomorrow.

Beckett breaks down a rifle and tosses it to Han. It's not much of a thing and there's nothing in the camera work or shot choices that draws your attention away from the scene and the dialogue. It's busy work for Beckett. I don't know. Of all the things to pick on, that one seems like a stretch.

We're talking about when Beckett first gives him the gun right? Maybe I'm just remembering it correctly. I really don't remember it being a big deal at all.

Its not a huge deal, but it was definitely a "see? see how Han got his blaster? see?!" moment.

The fact that its given any significance at all is silly. It's completely inconsequential where he got it.

Yeah. Why did the blaster need an origin? I thought maybe he'd just bought it.

I feel like if I'd never seen Star Wars, I wouldn't have thought anything about it. But there are plenty of other things that, even without knowing those movies, I would know are references and winks to those movies.

almost all of those little moments in R1 and Solo were swings and misses. No need for them

but it is one of those moments where if you didn't know this was his blaster it would pass right by you.
