How does that change the value of the player? If I lost a sack of money I got nothing to show for it, but it doesn't change how valuable that sack of money was.

Eck won the AL MVP in 1992 with a 2.9 WAR. Puckett who came in second with a WAR of 7.1. Just fucking ridiculous.
I also find Puckett incredibly underrated.

Barry Larkin won the NL MVP in 1995. Love Barry Larkin. But his WAR was 5.9. Greg? Maddux had a WAR of 9.6 and finished 3rd. Dante Bichette finished second with a WAR of 1.1.

With Puckett being kind of close in WAR that year and his team contending (I wanna say they finished second) he probably should have won. Weird to me Kirby never won an MVP.

If you were to give the Cy Young Award to the pitcher with the highest WAR and the MVP to the position player with the highest WAR, Bonds would have won eleven MVPs. And seven of them would have been while he still weighed like 185 pounds.

The MVP analogy would be something like: you have $100 consisting of two$20 bills and six $10 bills. I have $80 consisting of a $50 bill, five $5 bills and a handful of change. Which bill is the most valuable?
