Does anyone else wish after the call and response vocals at the end they'd go back into the riff from the very beginning of the song, or is it just me?

I was just saying the same thing on the previous page but the two time signatures jar against each other too much.

He could have sang it in that intro timing I think. Would have left more room for some exploration of melody like we see in the two choruses.

I don't think they jar too much. Basically the intro is just a half-time version of most of the song, i.e. the song is in 2/4 and the intro is in 4/4. They're essentially the same 'tempo' so they could change from one to the other in exactly the same way if they found a clever enough transition.

Even when I think about Ole, I was one of the few that liked that song, but again I don't go seek it out to listen to it and its probably because it's a stand alone track that's not associated with an album.

The thing I'm trying to figure out is if I was like this with previous albums/singles. I don't really remember, but I know with WWS and The Fixer, as soon as I got the albums, I rarely listened to those songs and I assume that's because I overplayed those songs during the lead up to the album. So maybe I'm subconsciously not trying to burn MYM out by the time the album comes out so I can still enjoy it.

I must have missed that post. But yeah, I feel like if they found a way to go from the call and response (and I have no doubt if Matt really wanted to he could), it would've made for a much more impactful ending to the song.

maybe It's a really cool part, but closing on the extended hell scream works well as a full stop

Ed vocals are great on this one. They grow in every new listen.

I'm still feeling pretty good about this song but the production could go either way.

The best chance we have of this album being produced with any depth is probably the ambient piece in the tour video. That kind of sound was not present on Backspacer.

I think The title track has potential for a full sound. I expect it to be slower and the guitar work is pretty layered.

They are agressive enough and he sounds very very good.

Ed's vocals are my favorite thing about this song.

I initially felt like the intro riff should pop in after the solo, and before the last chorus. Maybe after the dead stop?

Im not that crazy about the stop, i think its the weakest moment of the song. Im still loving the intro and Mike solo.
The live renditions has been pretty cool too.

Dublins alternative station have been playing the shit out of this. And I like it more each time I hear it.

It's interesting that, while it has increased its number of plays at alternative radio (typically the format Pearl Jam most dominates), its audience size shrank quite a bit there. This means that some of the format's larger stations gave it a little bit of a shot last week, then dropped it from their playlist. The may come back to it if it can break into the top ten there (it's at #12 right now, up from #16 after the first seven days).

what does estimated audience size mean?

I have yet to hear this on any of the local stations. They played the shit out of the Fixer when it was released.
